"El Constante visit in November 2022
Loved the location of this condo with the ocean front balcony. We spent a lot of our time on this balcony enjoying the view of the ocean. My one, biggest complaint, was that this condo smelled like mold and mildew. I contacted the office and they promptly brought an ozone generator to the condo to run for an hour. It helped briefly but smell was back too soon. This mold/mildew situation needs to be more permanently addressed. Otherwise, we loved the stay in this condo. "

"El Constante has better units
We love the beachfront location of El Constante, but will not choose 205 again. The kitchen was unworkably cramped with zero storage space for groceries. It was inadequately stocked to serve six people and we ended up purchasing some basics like cooking utensils. The furniture was uncomfortable, the carpeting worn, and there were ants in the upstairs bedrooms. We have stayed in two other beachfront units and will choose between them in the future."

"This unit got the landlord special
Unit looks nice. But after you settle in you realize its been given the landlord special. A coat of paint, and cheep furniture for great pictures but living in it is a different story.
The beds were the cheap, springy, sag in the middle, uncomfortable & no headboards.
The kitchen was barely equipped to be functional. Every burner is at a steep angle & kitchen utensils are lacking.
The subfloor upon entering and most of the downstairs is soft. you can tell that when the new floor was laid, no subfloor was replaced. Feels like years of dripping wet people have walked from the front door to the toilet.
I LOVE El Constante, we will be back... just not in unit 205. Property & unit were very clean. "

"Good view but not the good Condition of the property

"Could have been better
The condo is a great location but there are a few things you need to know about it. 1. No locks on any of the interior doors including bathrooms which was very odd. 2. The advertised laundry room is only for long term rentals so you have to use the laundry room which is $2.00 a load, only takes quarters. 3. The AC never did catch up to how low we wanted it. It took the AC 10 + hours to get from 81 degrees when we checked in to 75 at 4 am. We called and left messages on the Padre Escapes phone numbers and never got a call back. The front desk girl said well if it’s as low as 75 then it doesn’t need any attention. 4. The water that comes out of the faucet is not drinkable so you have to bring tons of water including for coffee and cooking in my opinion. No filtration system or filtered water from the fridge. 5. There are some small key kitchen items that were missing like a working can opener, a spaghetti server 6. You get exactly how many towels and rags as people in the house, you will not get more so if you need more then bring you own.
It was a great location, easy in, easy out to the beach and pool. Gorgeous view. I would stay in the complex again but would likely try a different room. "

"All You Need, Great For Families
Right in the water, ocean views from the balcony, great pool and kind office staff.
The bedding is in need of an update so bring your own pillows and maybe even your own sheets if that matters to you..
Other than that, this little gem is all you need for a wonderful time at the beach. Very clean and perfectly situated.
We won't stay anywhere else when coming to Port A. "

"Great getaway!
We had a great view of the ocean and the pool. This was the ideal location! Traveling with a toddler and infant it was important to have the option of the swimming pool and the beach in close proximity. We had the best of both worlds. We are planning another visit hopefully sooner than later!"

"My In-Laws 60th "Diamond" Wedding Anniversary Celebration Trip
GREAT Location! My "In-Love" laws have been coming to these Condos at least twice a year for 20 years! On multiple trips, they have invited US (Their Son and myself (their honorary daughter) to join them on occasion. They have never stayed in this Condo 205. This CONDO #205 is by far the BEST location at El Constante! Best of both worlds - 3 balconies! 2 of them overlooking the Beach and boardwalk and 1 balcony overlooking the enclosed, interior, heated pool and hut tub and atrium area. Best located CONDO on Whitecap Beach right by the Jetty! Unfortunately, our stay this time was not Ideal. ALL the other trips our folks made to El Constante where delightful and never ANY complaints and I'm not really a complainer. But this time was different. We were only there for 5 nights (2/21-2/25). I wanted them to have 7 nights, but it was just more than my Condo budget of $2,000 allowed. That budget only got us 5 nights their and I even contacted them to see if I could get a frequent customer discount or get the 7 desired nights for $2K, but they said they were giving me the best deal they could, so I chose another nearby Condo for much cheaper, but newly renovated, and much nicer interior, bedding and amenities, and twice the size! We loved it and wished we had stayed there for the whole 7 nights! The horror at El Constante began our first morning there as we awoke at 8am to the most unpleasant noises! The intense drilling, banging, thumping, vibrating, loud poundinig, jack hammers, etc. This went on all day except for one hour lunch break and done around 4pm each day we were there! IT WAS AWFUL! My beef is that Mgmt never said a word. Never notified us this construction or destruction was going to take place the ENTIRE time we were there. Our folks are elderly (both 82) and this trip was a surprise for them and was supposed to be restful, relaxing, rejuvenating and peaceful! That's what El Constante usually delivers, but really MISSED the MARK this trip! :( "

"View of the beach......
The unit 205 was very good, and the best part of that unit for me was that it has balconies facing the the Gulf of Mexico. I especially enjoyed the view of the sunrise, the Gulf, and the morning and evening walks along the waterfront. "

The bathrooms were dirty. There was sand on the floor on bottom level. The shower curtain upstairs needs to be thrown out. Smelled of urine and is molded. Both showers have mold. Cabinet in upstairs bathroom is falling apart. Tile on floor in upstairs bathroom coming up. Seal on refrigerator door coming off and has mold. AC wouldn’t keep upstairs cool. Never staying in 205 again...probably not coming back to el constante."

I took photo of a 3 inch roach crawling on wall. It took until next morning for AC to finally cool the second floor bedrooms to a comfortable setting. Black mold on repair areas in walk in shower. Built up dust on AC vents. Dishes in cabinet were put back dirty. Planning on doing review on trip advisor and posting photos. I could be persuaded not to if the property would give me back a small refund on my stay. It advertises as a nightly rate, but by the time all the fees are added, its outrageous. Way over priced. And then you expect guests to put dishes in dishwasher and start dishwasher, sack up all trash? For an $800 a night stay, I had to do the maids job too? That gives her more time to avoid cleaning AC vents that haven't been cleaned in months. Paint peeling off wall in bedroom. These are small maintenance items that could be done quickly, but these are the things a guest sees first and remembers. Do a better job, or sell you to someone who will."

"El Constante 205
Coming here over 10 years. Quality remains the same but price has really gone up since Padre escapes took over. Outside has been updated but inside the master bedroom huge chunks of paint were missing from walls. It was so hot and upstairs never got cool. We had to use the box fans provided to us. Staff is always friendly. Pool was a little rowdy with dogs running around and lots of drinking. "

"No rules
The office staff was friendly and helpful when they were there
James-grounds keeper was superb, staying late and coming in on days off just to make sure that things were right.
There was no one after hours to assist or manage issues. It was not our job to call the police when issues arose after hours. When we called guest services after hours, they hung up on us.
The hot tub went after hours 90% of the time. Noise of people and loud music most nights
Young adults who were not guests using facilities during all hours--day and night
Many dogs in pool and pool area, urinating in the rocks adjacent to the pool. Not all were owners.
Over limit numbers of people staying in units
Loud music was common in pool area.
No one addressed any of the rules, day or night. It was a free for all. One morning we woke up to the hot tub full of potato chips. Gross.
Our unit needed a new sofa, paint, and a redone bathroom
Constante could be a great place---with effective security, and an interest by office staff in what was happening outside of their doors
There was no security. The gates were not locked at night and people who were not guests came in after hours to use the facilities late into the night.

"August trip 2020, year of the Rona
The location is the best thing about this condo. We were told there was an extreme cleaning protocol due to COVID-19, but we took our own cleaning supplies and I am glad we did. The cloths we used to clean and sanitize all the touchable surfaces, were black when we were done. These clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The upstairs never cooled, the AC only worked downstairs. The bed in the 2nd bedroom is awful. It is broken, and whoever sleeps on the side by the door, is going to roll off it if they completely relax. Other than that, the condo was in pretty good shape. You cannot best the view. Waking up to the ocean greeting you every morning is spectacular. We would book this again, but I would again, bring my own cleaning supplies, and hoped the AC was repaired."

"Mother's Day Weekend
Our stay at El Constante on Mother's Day weekend was awesome! The property was nice and clean the office staff gave us service with a smile. The only complaint that I have is there was not a full length mirror in the master bedroom. We will definitely be staying again hopefully sometime soon."

"Stay at El Constante Amazing!
Been to El Constante numerous times in the past 30 years and Always have the best time ever! The staff are super nice and accommodating. The condo was clean and fully supplied with cookware, cooking utensils, dishes, silverware, coffee maker, blender etc. The only thing you might bring is a couple more blankets if you need to use the pull out sofa bed. The decor was beach themed which I love! The view from the balcony of the waves crashing in was so peaceful! The beach was emasculate and the water was clear and more beautiful than I have ever seen it! The pool and hot tub were perfect. I absolutely love this place! The only thing I would suggest is to have bar stools in unit 205. We had 6 people and there were only 4 chairs at the table. Other than that we loved our stay and will continue to stay at El Constante!"

"Great Stay!
My family and I really enjoyed our vacation this year. It was a lovely stay with plenty of room and great views looking out towards the ocean! I only had 2 complaints and that was the beds being extra firm!! My family and I had trouble adjusting.2nd, it took some time to cool off the second floor during the evenings and it didn't feel as though air was pushing through the vents. Luckily there was a box fan I was able to use to help circulate air. Otherwise, this was a great place to stay, customer service was awesome and we can't wait for our next trip!"

"Beach Getaway
Had a nice trip with the family. Had a two bedroom upper unit. The property and unit were a little dated but clean. Only had a table for 4 but we had 6. 2 and 1/2 baths=room were nice to have. Enjoyed being right on the beach - a short walk and always a nice view. We tracked in a lot of sand though - constantly sweeping. The only complaint would be that the blinds for the sliding doors, upstairs and down were broken and not working correctly. Though pricey, I would recommend it - you can always split the cost with your guests."

Location was amazing, disappointed that laundry wasnt included with condo as it was on floor plan. Condo was tidy but not very well cleaned. Air vents and doors/lights were extremely dusty. Vanity's rotting in guest bathroom as well. View was great though and stay was awesome. "

"Rules Aren’t Enforced
We have been big fans of El Constante for the past 20 years. This visit has completely changed my mind. Since Padre Escapes took over management it has become pricier and gone downhill. Paying premium price for a beachfront 2 bedroom condo we experienced a day and night of a loud large party at the pool, parking their cooler on the edge of the pool and openly drinking can after can of beer (against the alcohol at the pool & right in front of the office) with loud music. Pool closes at 10:30 with quiet time observed...Uhhhh Noooo. Party continued until 1:30 am. When I reported to the office in the morning they said they 'talked to them'. I asked who to call if it happened again, they said the police. Quote 'We havenosecurity, just call the police. I called Padre Escapes and got a very snarky reply from Jeremy Clayton...not their problem.... I will no longer book any place run by this company. They absolutely do not care.
We stayed in beachfront unit 205. The beach was amazing! This unit however was not. Booked for 7 people, we were given 6 towels, only had 5 forks. Furniture is old and really needs to be replaced. Blinds do not work and should be replaced.
Disappointed in the unit & the party atmosphere, but on the beach it was beautiful & we definitely enjoyed that part of our time."

"Weekend Get Away at El Constante
I was not as pleased with unit 205 as I thought I would be. The upstairs did not cool off enough to enjoy sleeping upstairs. We saw ants in the bathroom downstairs. The kitchen was not well equipped. No coffee filters although there was a coffee maker. It was mostly clean but the sink in the downstairs toilet would not drain at all. At least it was quiet and faced the ocean."

"Great access to beach
It was the perfect room with views and access to beach. The only thing I would say is there was no supervision at pool where kids were getting into spa and making it difficult to enjoy. Other than that it was pleasant. The closet with blankets smelled really bad but they quickly provided new blankets once we brought it to their attention. Overall, it was a pleasant experience."

"Family Vacation 2018
We have been staying at El Constante for over 20 years. Our kids love it and it's in the perfect location. We've recommended it to family and friends over the last 20 years and a lot of them have also stayed there. The new staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room was great. The only complaint we have about it is the board you have to step over to get on the lower balcone to see the beach. It's a tripping hazard. Other than that the room was perfect. We will continue to visit every year."

"Great View of Gulf, Nice Location, needs upgrading
We have owned beachfront property and have stayed at various condos with Gulf views. This particular unit has the best-unobstructed view of the Gulf.
The exterior has been recently upgraded and looks good. The balconies have a nice finish. The layout inside is fairly good with 2 very separate bedrooms with ensuite baths. There is a half bath downstairs.
We arrived on a Wednesday with weather forecasts predicting rain, dangerous high tides, and beach flooding. Well, it didn't rain and other than contractors working on the units, we were either the only guests or one of few.
So, it could have been the timing, the weather, the construction or a combination but the location alone should have been attractive enough to at least fill the Gulf view units.
For the money, you expect more than a cheap finish out. The flat screen TVs were nice. However, cheap old and undersized ceiling fans, $10 shower heads that probably never worked well, Gulf view windows with broken seals, original builder grade shallow sink in the kitchen and very low-end appliances take away from the experience. We own quite a few properties and they are our retirement investments and so we don't say "It's just a rental" as we make money by having a waiting list.
For comfort, the beds were spongy and the window coverings did little to block out the light from outside making it hard to sleep.
As for the complex? Parking is good. It appears that the exterior of all the units are getting makeovers and that is a good thing.
The onsite management was nice. The pool was well maintained and inviting.
Most will not read this review and only look at the star rating but this review is meant to be constructive to the owner of unit 205 as he/she/they have a wonderful unit that could have a waiting list if only they would upgrade a few more things. Most of which cost only a few dollars to a few hundred."

"Remodel Disaster
Where to begin. An hour before check in they tried to place us in a different room that was horrible. So we looked at our original room and the entire place had no blinds on the windows and there was bare sheetrock on the entire wall of the balcony areas downstairs and the master bedroom. The master was hot our entire stay because the sheetrock was not taped and floated. They started a remodel before we got there and were not able to finish before our check in knowing we had reservations. I was very disappointed. They put blinds up while we were there but never came back to install blinds on front door so we had to tape a piece of black plastic to cover for privacy. With my entire family with me getting another place big enough that last minute would have been hard to find. "
