"Not clean, but good otherwise
We got to the condo and noticed we were not left with any trash bags (not even in the trash can), but management brought some to us quickly. There were chip crumbs on the bed spread of the bunk beds, trash on the balcony, and consistently had to hand wash pans, spatulas and utensils because they were dirty when we got them out of the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. Good location, but just very dirty. You want to go on vacation to relax, not clean a condo before you use it. "

"Make Sure Your Patio is Open
We enjoy coming to Beachhead for its cleanliness and closeness to the beach. I believe this was our 4th trip to Beachhead in the last 2 years and plan on coming back in July. Out only disappointments this time was that we were not aware that the patio to our unit BH303 was closed and we could not access. We were not made aware of this prior to our arrival. We also, did not have a TV that worked or internet service, I understand about the internet not working as stated on the information sheets, but there was no TV, said it had to be re-activated on the screen. So, with no patio or TV there was not much to do at the condo at night. "

"Awful Unit; do not rent 303BH
The BAD: the unit I stayed in was smelled horrible, the bathroom was dirty and had to quarter size holes in the wall, the door to patio did not lock, I found a huge roach in the kitchen counter. the sink had a small leak in the kitchen. The was couches were uncomfortable, old, outdated, dirty and smelled bad. Management did send someone to clean and they stated the AC unit had been replaced after they cleaned and that was why the place was dirty. "

The condo I stayed in for 4 months was not up to standards. From insect to mold problems serious enough that Port A Escapes gave me a 10% refund. Port A Escapes was excellent to deal with and responded to my many problems quickly and mostly effectively, however this condo was below what I thought their standards were. "

Loved the old school Port A vibe- reminds me of my childhood. Awesome oceanfront location and boardwalk to the beach. The swimming pool and game room are fantastic-on a hill overlooking the gulf with a constant breeze. Nice poolside sitting area with some shade and comfy furniture. The condo comfortably accommodated my family of 6. "

We recently stayed at Sunrise 303. While we generally enjoyed the experience, there are some things that would have made it a much more pleasant stay. First I'd like to say that the customer service has been nothing short of excellent. Every interaction we had was very pleasant, and our issues were handled quickly. The grounds, architecture, and convenience of location were all excellent. The pool and gameroom are first rate, and the grounds are well taken care of with quality bbq grills and a nice fish cleaning house. Unfortunately the room itself left some things to be desired. The doors on the master bedroom would not stay shut on their own, and a latch system had to be used effectively locking the door while inside. This created a degree of frustration with the door either swinging wide open or being locked shut. The towel rack in the master bedroom was broken too. In the living room, the wooden floors were significantly warped, and the outdated furniture was worn out and had a musty smell. With internal improvements, this is undoubtedly a first rate condominium. Unfortunately however, we felt like it was rushed to be open without a full renovation that was obviously necessary. Hopefully improvements will be made for future guests.
We would not likely stay at Sunrise 303 again. The negatives simply outweigh the positives, and our usual condo has made significant renovations post-hurricane. This place has a lot of potential, but it needs work."

Front porch lite was out. 2 light bulbs in living room were out....very dim in there. Master bath towel rod broken off wall. Found stray hairs in dresser drawers and bathroom. Staff did not explain how to use keypad 's NOT like a hotel where it locks behind you."

"Great Little Getaway
The property was clean and maintained well. There was a slight "smokey" smell in the entrance area but that didn't carry over to bedrooms. Very nice touch to have travel shampoos, lotion, etc (even face wipes), it's the little things that make a difference. Great view and location, great communication with management company (I checked in late and just set up a lock-box). It was a little hard to find in the dark of night so signs could be better. Other detractor was a few sewer roaches in kitchen but that's not the properties fault necessarily (next time I will cover up the sinks at night however and I did make sure all food was in the fridge and not "out"). I would stay here again. "

"Come back to Port A!
Great week in Port A! The exterior of the condo looked a little weathered, but inside was fully renovated, completely restored, nicely furnished and painted with calming sea green with white trim. Definitely a tropical escape!🌴
Went to the beach each day from 4:00 till sundown. We were lucky: no jellyfish, flies or seaweed. Perfect. Plenty of restaurants open and IGA had all grocery needs. Will recommend Beach Head 303 to friends!
Still much to repair on the island. Bring tourist dollars and help Port A be even better than before!"

"Great Beach View

"A Place to Stay
With a quick trip to Port-A for fishing, we needed a place to stay and the Beachhead was what we were able to find. We were not expecting much, since the area is still reeling from the clean-up of the hurricane. The space was accommodating and functional, but remains dated. A/C was super cold and after a long day in the sun, it served its purpose. Take sugar and coffee and supplies, as the unit is void of anything like that. It was a place to stay and worked fine."

"The beach was so easy to walk to...
This is my first stay at this property. 303bh, Mostly, the stay was fine. It was clean, so very near the beach with its own boardwalk. That was great. Really disliked the balcony and view from it was okay if you were standing, but couldn't see over the railing to the ocean from the short little chairs. The door to the balcony was so very hard to open and made it sound like a hurricane was whistling through the door. We had a great time being at the beach, and it was fine for what we needed. The beds were all great. I would use BeachHead again, but probably not this room. Also, make sure you have quarters for the laundromat on site. We got to wash clothes, but not dry :/"

"Moldy and Gross!
We usually rent several rooms at beachhead condominiums for a large group trip. Unit 303 was not up to par with the other units available at this property. It was damp, smelled of mold, they carpet was sticky, and one toilet seemed to be coming up from the floor, and over flowed several times!!! Port A escapes did not help resolve our issues. So we paid the same price for this room as we did our others that were very nice. Pick any room but 303!"

"Mildew-infested condo!
We selected 303BH because it had an unobstructed gulf view. This condo should never have been rented out! It was damp and smelled so overwhelmingly of mildew that our clothes absorbed the smell and I got a raging headache. The refrigerator had mildew spots around the door seal. The shower curtains also had mildew. The furniture and kitchen cabinets were all dark, who knows where else it was growing! The TV and wireless internet did not work. And, by the way, the cabinet doors opened toward the wall rather than toward the kitchen. The owners clearly never cared about their property. Since we had arrived on a Friday night after the office was closed, we had to sleep there and we called the office the next morning. They sent someone over with a bottle of Febreze. Everyone we talked to responded they just worked there, couldn't do anything and that there were no managers in the office on weekends. One staff did call a manager, at our request. She agreed to move us to another condo that was further back from the beach, but would not give us a discount or refund. The second condo (203BH) was clean and nicely decorated, we decided to just enjoy the rest if our getaway weekend. After we returned home, my husband called the manager of Port Aransas Escapes, the rental company. She said she does not visit the properties. This company's staff failed at every level, from management down to cleaning staff. Do not give this company your money!"

"Nightmare on the beach
Smelled of mildew and insecticide. Probably due to having carpet in a very humid area. We did not end up staying the night it was so horrible and very expensive. The fridge was rusted and leaked. Bathrooms looked like a motel 6 type, very cheap and run down. I cannot believe Port A Escapes charged over $300 a night to stay there. It was close to the beach so we used it as a locker. The pics on website were misleading, vollyball court had weeds going in it, playground looked hazardous. My wife cried when we walked in as I tried to tell her it wasn't that bad, knowing it was a nightmare. I can still smell it now! Stay away from this place!"

"Good Price for the convenience
I will start off by saying that we came to the beach with the intention of just sleeping in the condo not spending all of our time there.
Overall the condo served us well, it was clean, convenient and the AC worked good.
As soon as we stepped in the mold smell kicked us in the face, we instantly wiped all the wood furniture down to reduce the smell. Theres not a trash can or bags in the kitchen, the chairs on the porch saw their last summer last year, and the king size bed seemed a little short. WE will come again, just think a few things should be taken care of."

"Winter in Port A
After years of wintering in our motorhome, we suddenly found ourselves in need of a condo for our Port A stay. Port A Escapes directed us to Beachhead where we have stayed for the past 2 winters. There are a variety of styles and upgrades within the resort as each owner is responsible for their unit. Unit 303 was clean & comfy with a beautiful view of the Gulf. We met a number of really nice folks who regularly winter there. The staff, led by Cynthia is friendly and extremely helpful. We will be returning to Beachhead again in 2016."

The condo is very spacious and well appointed. It has everything for a perfect stay. The complex is quiet and the view from the balcony is unbeatable. The only negative is the smell of creosote from the , which is common in many older properties in Port A that used creosote treated wood as their foundations."

"RETURN EVERY YEAR
We always have a really nice time at Beachhead. The wifi didn't work and we have had that problem in the past. the cabinet doors were backwards. Opening toward the walls instead of against it which is kinda weird and awkward. Should be an easy fix. Hopefully someone will. the microwave was pretty lame but overall the condo was clean and offered the amenities that I was looking for. when I called the reservationist, she was kinda rude both times. almost refusing to help me and referring me to the website when all I needed was a quick question to ask both times."

"Paying for the Beach
Had roaches. One fell in my hair while I was showering the first morning we stayed. It was terrifiying and set the tone for the rest of the stay because anxiety of roaches. Took home flying big with is in our suitcase. Appliances were out dated and rust/water damage to fridge and microwave. Nice amount of space and fit 4 comfortably. Awesome beav h access. But will never stay there again. Bedding was yuckying but towels were bright white. Onky 2 face towels for 4 people. I recommend finding somewhere else to stay!"

"Stay somewhere else
This unit is old and run-down. The refrigerator and microwave were both rusted, the unit had an unpleasant odor, the door to the balcony would not stay closed (we had to put the couch in front of it to keep it closed). We really didn't want to sleep in the beds or sit on the furniture. The floor was uneven and creaky. We would recommend staying somewhere else. We have been going to Port Aransas for years and all of the places we've stayed before were MUCH nicer and comparable in price."

"Clean but noisy
At first we were very pleased with the property, noticing its cleanliness. But when neighbors moved in upstairs, we noticed how easily we could hear there every movement, walking, jumping, doors closing. Therefore the 3 star rating on general condition. Also, I felt that the check in process was confusing : we showed up at the property and were told rather rudely that we had to go to the main office to check in. Bottom line, I will recommend it to others with lots of warnings. "

"Great location and great price for a group
I've been staying at Beachhead for 20 years and it hasn't changed a bit. I mean that in the best way. The condos are spacious and delightfully kitschy, the grounds feature grills, picnic tables, horseshoe, etc., and the large pool and proximity to the beach is great. Unit 303 doesn't have the most modern amenities (no wifi) but it's in a good location with views of the dunes and sea. The one complaint I have about Beachhead is that there is minimal-to-no front desk service now that Port A Escapes manages rentals. Otherwise, I highly recommend this condo."

"Great location, great bedrooms....badly needing updates!!
Glad to find a great location at fair price at the last minute. The 2 full baths is a definite plus!! This unit needs renovating and updates! Walk in and very musty smell. Only one small tv in living room. Slow drain in bath, rusty looking fridge and micro. While very clean, a big visual turn off. Kitchen needs more wares. S/P shakers were empty. Bedding all musty. The pool area is fabulous but I guess they only expect 5 people as this was about how many loungers there are. We did have to kill a very big roach. Please remodel, renovate and resupply. I will pay the upgrade price!!! The location is excellent. I would not come back to this particular unit. I hope Beach Head has remodeled units 'cause location is fantastic and so is the pool area. Maybe a better and cleaned grill also. We did grill but used new grill racks. I guess for the price, it was a fair stay. "

"Beachhead Great-Management Company Not So Great
Love Beachhead and this was our ninth year at the complex. We feel that Winter Texans have not been dealt with in a fair and courteous manner by the management company. Many of we returning guests feel that Winter Texans are not valued by the management company. Condos are being rented out from under some while they are still in residence with no notification."

"Awesome Mini Vacation
We had an amazing stay, our condo was right upfront and we had a nice ocean view. I brought my mother, husband, son and grandson...3 generations and we had a wonderful time. The beach is just a short 3 minutes walk, and there is outdoor showers to clean off sand and the pool was well kept, large and clean. The only small downside was that we brought our stuff to play tennis but the tennis courts were not not playable, no enclosure or nets. But we still had a great time. "

Our group had a wonderful time. The only suggestion I have is to replace the locks in the doors-they are very old and some do not work. We have been coming to Beachhead for over 25 years and were very glad to see the improvements that have been made within the last 5 years. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else."

You cannot beat the location! Everything in the condo was fine,but the bathrooms are pretty tiny. Only issue we had was not getting a late checkout when requested because they had a lot of condos to clean. I felt it would have been easy to do mine later in the day and give us the 2 extra hrs. When we turned our key in, they wanted us to stay another night for a discounted rate. Why couldn't we get late checkout, then?"

"Great Location!!! Loved the beach house!
Yes, I would stay here again, but there were a few things I'd hope to be different.
First, the cable was not hooked up and in fact had a broken connection. The building management acted very fast and repaired it so we were able to get a few channels - it rained a full day while we were there :|
The wifi signal was very weak and required a login/password that was very different from what was posted on the reference sheet in the kitchen. I normally don't bring work to the beach, but had to get some deliverables sent out before I could enjoy myself.
On our last night night there, we were visited by the biggest, fastest cockroach I'd ever seen. We did not manage to catch it as it moved too quickly under the furniture. Needless to say, we slept with the lights on that night !
The location was perfect, we had a very short walk on the boardwalk to the beach, where I have never felt sand so powdery. The waves were fun and allowed for lots of body surfing. We can't wait to return to our beach getaway!"

"Room Smelled Like Pesticides
First of all we were moved to a different condo, which was alright. Woman in the office said she gave us a 20% discount, which we already got for booking during the weekday. So really didn't give us anything for changing rooms. The first thing we noticed is that the room smelled horrible with Pesticides. We called office and they stated oh it shouldn't smell that way. Well it did smell and they did nothing to fix it!! The condo smelled for four days and we sprayed febreeze the entire time. Plus woke up with headaches due to smell. The complex was nice, but your service is horrible. I even explained to the woman at check out about the smell and she said Oh Sorry! We also called about extra towels... guess you don't do that either, the guy stated to come to their office he had about three towels. Sure I will get in my car and drive two miles. We only had four towels in each bathroom for four nights. Plus when we checked in we had left over food in frig and a box of wine that was empty. I'm glad to know where my cleaning fee goes. The condo we had said four to five stars on your ratings on tripadvisor. I would of just liked the issue to be fixed and no one helped. I used your company last year."

The place is at a nice location on the island but the unit does need some maintenance. Both bathroom sinks barely drain and when we first used the kitchen sink we flooded the kitchen as the drainage pipe wasn't hooked up. We put it back together and then tried to not use that side of the sink the rest of the visit!"

I am a real estate agent in the Austin, TX area & really enjoyed our girls trip to Port A. Brenda was very personable over the phone, it was great putting a face with the friendly voice & professional manner. The condo we rented was clean, safe, in a great location, easy access to the beach & the unit was in wonderful condition. I plan to go back with family & stay at this same location. Many properties around Port A are not as nicely kept & are in poor condition - this one was excellent!"

"Beachhead Vacation
We spent 3 night at Beachhead in July. It was a wonderful place. Great location, nice pool, playground for the kids, short walk to the beach. We plan on returning. We actually stayed a couple more days because Beachhead didn;t have any availability. We stayed at a place that was twice as much per night but not nearly as nice."

the view was excellent. the extensive rework of all decking and stairwells was great. would have like to have wifi access but when u vacation who wants email. the only bad thing was the mosquitoes (even on the beach when sun went down). great time and we had a wonderful wedding on the beach"

"Girls Trip
You need plugs in both bathroom. There is no way to dry or style hair. Blankets need washing after each guest. They had an odor. All in all everthing was great."
