"Great house and location
The house was perfect for our family. It was a very short and convenient walk to the beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the pool , very clean and the deck around the pool was very nice.Overall this was a great house and location. We will rent again. "

"Beautiful Home steps from the Beach in Sea Pines
We loved our stay in this beautiful home. The pool and spa were beautiful and our kids had so much fun swimming in the afternoons. We spent our mornings at the beach which is so convenient literally a 2 minute walk. We normally enjoy going to the beach club but we preferred just being in our own little stretch of beach where we had chairs and umbrellas set up by the lifeguards. We also rented bikes through Sea Turtle Getaways (which is a must in Hilton Head) as well as bins of toys for the kids which were a hit. My only suggestion would be to change the blinds in the downstairs bedrooms to a type which can allow some light in and also privacy. It felt a little dungeon like in the downstairs bedrooms, but other than that it was a wonderful home that we’d definitely be interested in staying at again."

"Great location - needs deep clean & better kitchen supplies
The location was perfect.
The baseboards look like they have never been wiped down.
The kitchen had tons of plates & glasses, but hardly any utensils. Cut my lip open from the side of one of their five SPOONS. Unbelievable. Must have been so old... Only a handful of forks and knives. ONE spatula. The pans were so old the teflon surface was scratched up, couldn't feed my family using those.
This place would be 5 stars if they addressed the cleaning and stocked the kitchen up.
The location was a dream!!! Beach was a short walk from the house. The pool was incredible, the deck was gorgeous. Would definitely stay again if the other issues were addressed.

We had a wonderful family vacation in Sea Pines!
The house was clean and met all our needs for the week.
Our granddaughter loved the pool with the waterfalls and steps.
Also the beach was so close and easily within walking distance.
The management was very kind to retrieve and ship some forgotten items to us after we were home! Thank you so much!

"Wonderful week
We had a wonderful week with our family of 7 in Sea Pines at 12 Surf Scoter. The kitchen was fully stocked with more than most. Bedrooms were nice size and our beds were very comfortable. We loved the screened in porch! The location is great and steps from the beach and also the bike path. The only recommendations I have is it would have been great to have an additional refrigerator on the property and access to the elevator would have been so good for my oxygen dependent father. It could use a good deep clean, but, I know that Covid and the nationwide lack of work staff effects this. We have stayed in Florida a couple times this year, so I half expected that would be the case. We unexpectedly had to check out a day early and the lady I spoke with when doing that was so very nice.
I would definitely stay here again. "

Overall the property was great. The pool was very nice. Everything worked well. The kitchen lacked order but was well supplied. Ac was excellent. Lower level master could have used a dehumidifier. Well suited for six adults and small children. "

We had a wonderful stay. The house is very well located for beach and activities. We found the home comfortable for 3 couples with plenty of space and en-suite bathrooms. The pool size and deck seating make it highly usable. We will definitely return. "

"Good Sea Pines rental
This rental was sufficient for our stay. The location of the home was really good. About a 2 mile bike ride to Harbor Town and a 1 mile bike ride to South Beach. We were a short walk to the beach, even short enough to carry chairs and surf boards. Overall the home was in good condition. The living room and porch furniture was new and comfortable. We loved the screened in porch and enjoyed that in the evenings and when the rain occasionally blew through in the afternoons. The kitchen was well equipped, save for needing some tupperware containers to store leftovers. The grill worked well also. I notified the rental manager that the the rental is in need of new pillows on all the beds. They did supply new ones for the master, which were much appreciated. The overall layout of the home is a little strange, and there is only one king bed, not two as the listing stated when we booked it. Overall I would recommend the home."

"Love Sea Pines
We had a wonderful time. Every problem we had was solved quickly. The house was put together somewhat strangely, in that you couldn't get to the pool from the back of the house???? Also, there apparently was no insulation between the floors. Just walking upstairs sounded like someone was pounding on the floor. The location was great and so were the Sea Turtle staff."

"Great location, dated house
The 4 bed house was located within a 10 minute walk. The pool area was private , spacious and beautifully payed out. The screened in porch was huge and equipped with table chairs couch and seats. The bedrooms downstairs felt somewhat moldy. Amir conditioning hard to control decent temperature. The beds were on the old side and not very comfortable. Kitchen needed more stocking of spoons cups and needs a disposal as well. "

"Nice location close to beach
Nice location, pool and house. Beach is a short walk. Unfortunately, I would not recommend due to issues spanning 2 days with the security/alarm system that shouldn't have taken so long to fix. The mattresses are very nice, but the sheets are not large enough and come off easily while sleeping; pillows need to be replaced. The house could use some dusting and a 4 slice toaster would be a nice upgrade. Kitchen cabinets are disorganized so it makes it difficult to know what's available or find anything."

"Friends reunion
Large home easily accommodating 8 adults, easy walking distance to beach and great location in Sea Pines close to Hilton Head. Recommend bike rental to take advantage of the terrific bike paths. One issue was lower level bedrooms had musty smell and moths. Property management company did respond to spray but moths were present all week. Fees for heating pool and hot tub exhoberent."

"Good location, Average Accomodation
We rented this home in August 2018, and overall we had a good experience. Everything worked, and we had everything we needed. Our only complaints were the overall layout of the home, which we understand isn't anyone's fault. IT just didn't work well with 2 young children. Additionally, cleanliness of the home was not that great either. The home needs some renovation, and we found lots of bugs and roaches. The best part of this home was the screened in porch. The furnishings are pretty good overall as well.
We travelled with our 2 young children, and grandparents, and so the pool access was not the best either. There was no locked gate to protect children from getting we had to keep a real close eye on them as well."

"Nice house in Sea Pines
We stayed at 12 Surf Scoter on our most recent visit to Hilton Head. We always choose a house in Sea Pines that is near the beach. We have 3 families (total of 10 with 4 kids) so we enjoy being in Sea Pines, having a pool at the house and proximity to the beach. This is a 4 br, so we put all the kids in one room.
This house worked very well for us. The pool area was especially nice with waterfalls in the pool and a spa attached. We had the pool heated to be safe and it was comfortable all week.
The screened in porch was also a great hit. We spent most of our time there when at the house and the furniture was very nice and there was plenty of room for everyone.
No complaints about the house. It seemed to be well taken care of. We did have a problem with the ice maker and had to buy ice for the week ,but the rental company reimbursed us for that.
We did have to walk down the street to get to the beach path (we're used to being a bit closer), but from there it was a short walk to the beach.
Location is good for biking, except you do have to cross the main road when coming out to get on the bike trail across the street. Nice rides to Salty Dog, Harbour Town, Lawton Stables from here.
All in all we were pleased with 12 Surf Scoter."

"Perfect for a Family Reunion
The six of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is large enough to spread out and have privacy and the also provided lots of space to come together. We cooked and used the grill a few nights and found the kitchen to be adequately stocked for our needs. Great location for accessing the beach and hitting the bike trails.
We would come back and recommend to our friends."

"Barry and Lisa's get away
There was a house under construction across the street. Very noisy during the day and not a nice view from your deck. The house next door had " strange" traffic each day? Seem to be several young adults that would come and go during the week. Lights would be left on outside at pool at night etc."

"Family vacation was a success
House was very comfortable, especially the screened in porch. The only thing I would change would be a more convienent access to the pool area. We called about a shortage of cups and that afternoon a lady brought us 8 brand new mugs. "

"Surf Scoter 12 Review
We enjoyed our stay at Surf Scoter 12. The pool area was one of the nicest pools that we have experienced at a Hilton Head property. The pool was clean, larger than most and there was a nice amount of space around the pool. There was a need for more lounge chairs for the size party we had but overall a nice area to the house. The walk to the beach was maybe 5 minutes which is not that bad when you have beach stuff and kids. You can also ride your bikes to the beach which is a huge help as well. The house served its purpose for the size of group we had. Two couples and 5 children and four bedrooms with bathrooms. It was great that each room had their own, updated bathroom. There was only one king size bed in the house which was a disappointment. At least one more room, if not two rooms could have accommodated a king size bed which would have been nice to have for better nights of sleep. There was an odor to the house that the owner seemed to try and mask with air fresheners, I noticed it as soon as I walked in the front door. I personally do not like air fresheners and it took some getting used to during the week. With the exception of the hardwood floors and one of the bathrooms, the house overall was clean. There were light bulbs burned out, but the kitchen appliances, washer/dryer all worked great. "

"Great getaway
There were few reviews available for this house so I though I would drop a note. We had 5 adults, three kids ages 5 and under all stay very comfortably. Bedrooms were very nicely done. Large TV in living area as well as all bedrooms. Bathrooms all modern appearing, nice tile work. Kitchen was good size, loved the washer/dryer. Spent most of our time at the pool, teaching kids to swim. We all had a good time. There are toys to play with and there were two beach chairs available. You can buy more locally or rent if you like. Outdoor shower at side of house with additional entrance. 5 min walk to the beach, most of the time walked barefoot. Beach was nice, very warm water in August. Pool has shade in AM which was nice, warmer in the afternoon. One table available with tent for shade. We brought another cheap umbrella for second table and needed this to keep the kids in the shade.
Two blocks from a nice bike path, 5 min.
5 to 10 min from harris teeter or Publix
Bring some beach towels/pool towels and apple/fruit peeler
--would definately not heat the spa in the summer. It overflows into the pool and you will cook
Cons:
Need to place a password on the wifi (unwise to check email with open connection). "

"Returning guests
We have stayed at this property six times, the first time in 1995. The most recent in August 2016. We have stayed elsewhere in Seapines, but find 12 Surf Scoter fits our needs best.
Located near the beach and away from the busy Harbour Town traffic it is an ideal property to enjoy the tranquility of the area. It is an easy walk to the beach (marker 26) and bike ride to South Beach. The property itself is nicely appointed with a large living area on the second floor. Two bedrooms up and two down. A large screened porch on the second floor is ideal for sitting and enjoying the outdoors.
The pool and whirlpool were installed about two years ago and are one of the nicest pools in the area. Large enough for six adults and four children. The pool is located on the opposite side of the house from the entrance.
We will return to this property. "

"Poor kitchen equipment
Beautiful home with comfortable furniture and lovely screened porch
Each bedroom had a bath! But the kitchen did not meet expectations- for a house that sleeps nine there was inadequate bowls, no salad bowls, only 3 cereal bowls and the cookware did not meet the standards for the home. The fact That the elevator was locked didn't sit well with us either."
